Last night, Miami’s vibrant tech community had the pleasure of seeing some of the best startups in South Florida present their companies and technologies before a crowd of over 500 invitees during Refresh Miami Demo Night.
Refresh Miami, South Florida’s largest and most prominent technology and entrepreneurship organization hosted this event. Companies addressing varied markets, ranging from senior home care, facial emotional recognition and drug spending cost containment, had a chance to compete for over $200,000 in prizes before a panel of judges.
Tesser Health won 3rd place, taking home an award. Riyaad Seecharan, one of Tesser’s Managing Directors, presented the company and spoke about how our technology and services help employers lower the costs of medications. Our current platform, WeRx Enterprise, empowers self-insured organizations with pharmacy price comparison information, and personalized ways to save on prescription drugs.
Our WeRx Rewards Program, allows employees to accumulate points for using our platform, and redeem them for gift cards from retailers such as Amazon, BestBuy or Macy’s among others. Additionally they can use their points to make a donation to non-profit charities such as Habitat for Humanity or the Clean Water Fund. Moreover, Seecharan explained how employees can easily request their doctors to switch their medications by clicking on a button, which triggers our system to send a personalized fax to their provider with new drug information and their preferred pharmacy.
This event was sponsored in part by the Knight Foundation ad SoftLayer, and IBM company, and held at Miami Dade College Wolfson Campus in downtown Miami.
